Eileen Rita (O'Brien) Ferguson, 89, previously of 36 Lake Ave., Leicester, died on Monday, January 26th, 2009 at Notre Dame Long Term Care Center where she has been a resident for the past few years.
Eileen was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 64 years Robert E. Ferguson who died two years ago.
Eileen was born in Worcester on January 28, 1919, the daughter of Bartholomew and Nora (Wrixon) O'Brien. She is survived by her 8 children - William Ferguson and his wife Rita of Milford, Patricia Donehower and her husband, Weston of Burlington, Vermont, Kathleen Lynch and her husband Joseph of Franklin, Margaret Waugh and her husband Thomas of Portsmouth, RI, Maryellen Madden and her husband Brian of Milford, Dr. R. Kevin Ferguson and his wife Mary Jane of Worcester, Anne Dumas and her husband Dave of Brookline, NH, and David Ferguson of Boylston. In addition she leaves her sister Agnes Gardner of Worcester, her sister Kathleen Smith of Westfield and her brother Michael J. O'Brien of San Pedro, California. Her sister Mary Sullivan of Rockland pre-deceased her in 2001. Eileen's legacy includes 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
Eileen graduated from St. Peter's High School and received her diploma in nursing from St. Vincent Hospital. She was an active member of the St. Pius X Parish in Leicester.
Her family thanks all those at Notre Dame Long Term Care for all of the wonderful, loving, attentive care given to Eileen.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 30 from the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m., in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Leicester. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
