WORCESTER-N. Kathleen "Kate" (Brennan) Joyce, 84, passed away Sunday, January 25 surrounded by her family.
Her husband of 53 years, Terrence E. Joyce died in 2003. She leaves a sister, Patricia M. Durkee of Pinehurst, NC, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Her two brothers, Bartholomew J. and Thomas V. Brennan and her sister, Sr. Mary Ellen Brennan, S.S.J. predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Bartholomew J. and Delia A. (Flaherty) Brennan and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. Mrs. Joyce worked at Waite Hardware and Crompton & Knowles before retiring. She was a member at Christ the King Church.
Kate was married for over 50 years. She lived and traveled all over the country with Terry until they came back to Worcester to retire. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards and trips to Foxwoods. When Kate was invited to your home, you always hoped that she was carrying a coffee can, knowing that coffee was not inside but the best chocolate chip cookies you ever tasted.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence for the compassionate care provided to Kate.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, January 27 from 9:30 to 10:30 Am at CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass to follow at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Entombment will be in St. John’s Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, c/o Visiting Nurses’ Association, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
