Mr. James M. Zappia, 77 of Medford died Saturday at his home. He is the former husband of Marguerite (Contestabile) Zappia. Mr. Zappia was born in Boston, son of the late Pasquale and Theresa (DiGiacomo) Zappia. In earlier years he worked in the building and construction trades. Mr. Zappia was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Zappia had lived in Las Vegas for several years, he also enjoyed trips to Foxwoods, crossword puzzles, building model cars and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He is survived by two sons: Michael Zappia and his wife Lisa of Medford and James Zappia of Medford. He is the father of the late Laura Zappia. He leaves one brother, Anthony Zappia of IL. and is brother of the late Lucy Imbruglia and Angie McLaughlin. A Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford on Thursday Jan. 29 at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. At his request, visitation has been omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in James’ name may be sent to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 1 Bridge St., Suite 102, Newton, MA 02458.
