Obituary

George W. Kannheiser, Sr., 81, of North Andover, MA., peacefully passed away with his family beside him on January 22nd, 2009.

Born and educated in Lawrence, he was the son of the late John R. Kannheiser and Nora G. (Mahoney) Kannheiser and was predeceased by two brothers. George was an Army Veteran who served his country in World War II, and upon his return settled in Lawrence but ultimately called North Andover home for over 40 years.

Before his retirement from Stevens Hall in North Andover, George had also worked locally at H.P. Hood Dairy Co. and Nationally Advertised Foods in Lawrence.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Geraldine. 16 years without her, but always in his heart and now together again. He is survived by a son, George Kannheiser and his wife Sandra of Lawrence. His sweet smile, loving heart and sense of humor will be missed immensely by his granddaughters Deborah Hemond, her husband Michael and their children Amanda and Jake all of Methuen and Lynda Kannheiser of Methuen. ILMG.

George was the type of person you could meet once or twice but his sweet personality, kind blue eyes and jolly laugh would stay with you for years. In his younger days, he enjoyed his daily summer swim, a good fried clam and taking long drives with his sweetheart to destinations unknown. George had a great love for dogs and over the years he supported many organizations that assisted animals and people in need.

His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church in North Andover, Mass.

Burial will follow at the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover, Massachusetts.
