Obituary

NASHUA, NH - Anthony "Tony" Der Garabedian, 86, a resident of Nashua, NH, and former Lowell resident, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother, died Tuesday January 20th at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH.

He was born in Lowell on March 29, 1922, and was a son of the late Martin and Kohar (Der Boghosian) Garabedian. He attended Lowell schools and was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of 1940.

Mr. Garabedian served his country for six years as an aviation mechanic in the United States Navy during World War II.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as a computer operator and programmer by the Internal Revenue Service in Andover. Earlier in his career he was employed by Ford Motor Company in Somerville.

He was a member of the St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church in Chelmsford. He was also an active member of the C.C.A. Club throughout his lifetime, helping to maintain the club, and cooking meals for various functions, and he was a former member of the East End Club in Lowell and a former Mason.

He is remembered as being "a friend to all." and would never say no to anyone who needed him.

His greatest joy was his family and being a part of their lives, especially after his retirement. His second greatest joy was the horse races at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH, and watching all other sporting events.

He survived by his son, Anthony Der Garabedian Jr., and his wife Susan of Rocky Face, Georgia; two daughters Katherine Coughlin and her husband Steven of Tyngsboro, and Karlene Lefebvre and her husband James of Nashua, NH; eight grandchildren Paul Der Garabedian, Kara Burbank, Elizabeth Der Garabedian Leddell, Rebecca Scorzato, Melanie Coughlin, Nancy Der Garabedian, Satara Lefebvre, and Allyson Coughlin; four great grandchildren, Haley DeMarco, Hunter Burbank, Ava Der Garabedian, Jason Leddell, and a special friend Brianne Lefebvre. He also leaves his sister Rose Kirkorian of Lowell; his former wife Marian D.G. Learnard of FL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late George Garabedian and the brother-in-law of the late Kirk Kirkorian.

Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Friday from 4 until 8 PM. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 AM, followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM at St. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church in Chelmsford. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery in Lowell.
