Obituary

William A. “Bill” Alexander, 72, of Hooksett, NH, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at his home. Mr. Alexander was born in Derry, NH on February 24, 1936, son of the late Ossie W. and Marion (Johnson) Alexander. He was a resident of Hooksett for the past 9 years, formerly living in Derry, NH. Bill served in the U.S. Air force from 1954-1962. He worked as a truck driver for Shafmaster Company in Exeter, NH for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was an avid bingo player, loved going to Foxwoods and enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas. Bill also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Theresa (Gourde) Alexander of Hooksett, a son, William F. Alexander of Silver Lake, NH, three step-sons, Richard F. Morrissette of Melbourne, FL, David R. Morrissette of Manchester, Alan W. Morrissette of Weare, NH, two step-daughters, Sandra J. Cormier and her husband Marcus of West Hills, CA, Debra T. Morrissette of Manchester, two sisters, Norma Adams and her husband Edward of Hooksett, Elaine Philpot and her husband Robert of Nashua, NH, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 1:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Calling hours were held Saturday from 10:00am until time of services in the funeral home. Cremation followed. The burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Londonderry, NH in the spring. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Notre Dame Pavilion, 87 McGregor St., 4th Floor, Manchester, NH 03102.
