Obituary

LEICESTER: Lawrence I. Emond,88, of 482 Pleasant St., died Tuesday, Jan. 20 at The Meadows of Leicester.
His wife of 52 years, Eleanor G. (Dandro) Emond, died in 2000. He leaves his daughter Ann G. Emond and her husband William D. Daggett of Leicester, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother Robert Emond and a cousin Leo Cazeault.
Mr. Emond was a pattern maker for Crompton & Knowles Corp. for 40 years and later for Morgan Construction Co. both in Worcester before retiring in 1982.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Isaie O. and Florence (Donais) Emond. He graduated from Holy Name High School and attended Holy Cross College both in Worcester. He then served his country during WWII with the Army Air Corps. He was an honorary lieutenant and navigation instructor for the "Free French Air Corps".
He was a former corporator of Leicester Savings Bank, a member of St. Aloysius-St. Jude Parish, the Leicester Rod & Gun Club (30 yrs.), 3rd Degree member of Leicester Knights of Columbus Council 4528 (20 yrs.) , Rochdale American Legion Post 205, Greendale Retired Men's Club and honorary member of the Aletha Grotto Band.
He was a longtime supporter of the Pulaski Brass Band of Webster and the Jewish Community Center "Big Band". He also was a 1st. Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxillary.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24 from the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester. Burial will follow with Military Honors in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Leicester. A calling hour will be held on Saturday preceding the funeral from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leicester Senior Center, 40 Winslow Ave., Leicester 01524.
