Beloved husband of Frances E. (McElroy) Heney. Loving father of Mary Heney & wife Karen Clay of Newton, Dr. Jay Heney & wife Dr. Therese Heney of Weymouth, Ted Heney & wife Donna Heney of Bridgewater, and Dr. Stephen Heney & partner Toni McFarlane of Hanover. Brother of Mary Larkin of Bridgewater, Eleanor Doody of Marstons Mills, Betty Danahy of Brockton, the late Robert J. Heney, and the late Kally Kianski. Loving "Pa" of 6 grandchildren.
A graduate of Northeastern and Harvard University, "Honest Joe" Heney began working as a civil engineer for Camp, Dresser and McKee in Boston as a cooperative education student while at Northeastern. He worked at CDM for 44 years, rising through the ranks from co-op student to CEO before he retired in 1994. He was a member of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Waterworks Association, the Water Environment Association, and the American Consulting Engineers Association. Mr. Heney was also a former member of the Board of Trustees at Northeastern University and former vice chairman of the National Commission of Cooperative Education.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM and the Life Celebration Service Wednesday at 9:15 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at Church of the Resurrection, 1057 Main St., Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Randolph.
