Peter A. Wagner, 63

Dateline: Norton, MA

Peter A. Wagner, 63, of Norton died on Thursday January 15, 2009 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Janet E. (Roberts) Wagner to whom he wed on July 1, 1972.
Born in Holyoke, MA on July 29, 1945 he was a loving son of the late Alfred and Gloria (Goller) Wagner.
As a young child Peter lived in Holyoke and later his family moved to Charlemont where he grew up and was educated and was a 1963 graduate of Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls. He furthered his studies and was a 1968 graduate of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
On June 28, 1968 he entered The United States Army and proudly served his country till being honorably discharged on June 25, 1971 with the rank of SP5. Upon being discharged Peter continued his education and received his Associates Degree from Greenfield Community College where he majored in Civil Engineering and later received his Bachelors Degree at Roger Williams College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Mr. Wagner had worked for 7 years as a Chief Estimator at Keville Enterprises, Inc. in Boston and had previously been employed for 27 years at Stone & Webster in Boston.
A member of the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Norton he was also a member of the Lieutenant Harold A. Healy American Legion Post 222 in Norton and was a member and a past president and former treasurer of the American Associates of Cost Engineers.
His family was the key point of his life and when his children were younger he enjoyed participating in their sporting events and was a former Norton Cub Scout Leader. He treasured the times spent with his grandchildren and also had enjoyed hiking, camping and was an avid New England sports fan. He had made his home in Norton for the past 33 years.
In addition to his beloved wife Janet of over 36 years he is survived by his dear and devoted children Michael P. Wagner and his wife Kelly of West Point, New York, David H. Wagner and his wife Adrienne of Dallas, Texas and Marcy E. Slattery and her husband Andrew of Walpole. He was the cherished grandfather of Elizabeth, John and Allison. He was the brother of the late Joseph Wagner and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday January 19th at 11:00 A.M. in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, East Main and Pine Streets, Norton. Burial with military honors will be held on Tuesday January 20th at 1:00 P.M. at the North River Cemetery in Colrain, MA
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday January 18th from 4-6 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
