Robin Ann Every of Taunton died peacefully at home after a lengthy illness on January 12, 2009 at the age of 55. Cherished daughter of the late Francis R. Every and Annabelle (MacDougall) Every. Beloved sister of Allyson Every of Rockland, Daryl Cameron Every and her husband J. Marshall McGregor of Randolph, and Victoria C. Every of Dallas TX. Much loved aunt of Ian McGregor, Ross McGregor and Annabelle McGregor all of Randolph. Sister-in-law of Laurel M. McGregor of Taunton. A 24-year resident of the Knoll House, a group home operated by DMR’s Southeast Residential Services (SRS), Robin is also survived by her six housemates and her dedicated, devoted caregivers. In August, Robin was diagnosed with terminal cancer at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Dana Farber. Robin returned home where she received superb and loving care from her Knoll House staff, with compassionate support from the Hospice and Palliative Care of the VNA of Southeastern Massachusetts. A sweet and gently-determined woman, Robin found great pleasure in music, car rides, family visits, and going for walks on the Dever Campus. Until her recent illness, she enjoyed her long time participation in the Co-op, Inc. day habilitation program in downtown Taunton where Robin had many caring friends and instructors. A former resident of the Paul A. Dever State School, she was a plaintiff in the Ricci federal class action suit that transformed the care at the former Dever State School and improved the quality of life for thousands of individuals with mental retardation in Massachusetts.
Calling hours will be held at the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Friday Jan 16th from 10 am to 11:30 a.m. followed by a service at 11:30 am. Interment to follow at the Holyhood Cemetery, Chestnut Hill. In lieu of flowers donations in Robin’s memory may be made to Dever Association for the Retarded, Inc., P.O. Box 543, Taunton MA 02780.
