Robert “Bob” Falciola, 65, of Sandown, NH, died Friday, January 9, 2009 in the Sun City Center Hospice Home, Ruskin, FL. Mr. Falciola was born in Johnson City, NY on November 25, 1943, son of the late Louis and Margaret (Mulderig) Falciola. Mr. Falciola graduated from Delaware Valley Regional High School in NJ and later from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania. He married Julia Marr on August 19, 1972 in Pequannock, NJ. Mr. Falciola was a software engineer. He was a participant in the 50K Olympic race walk final trials in 1980, the FOMBA Mt. bike Club, the New England Walkers, Southern NH Snow Slickers, Inc., the Eastern Fat Tire Association, the Shore Athletic Club in NJ, the Granite State Wheelmen, the North Medford Club, the Derry Track Club and the Cambridge Sports Union. He enjoyed race walking, mountain biking and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Julia (Marr) Falciola of Sandown, a daughter, Gwen Falciola of Sandown, two grandchildren, Jamila Nathea and Aliah Mae Peguere, both of Sandown, two brothers, Raymond and Richard Falciola, a half-brother, Lloyd Falciola, a step-brother, Dave Shear, two half-sisters, Luanne Gehm and Lisa Kotula, his step-mother, Dorothy Falciola Grossa, an aunt, Virginia Kennedy and cousins, Betty Shmidt, Alma Wilbur and Nettie Doyle. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Nathaniel in 1999 and also by a step-brother, Doug Shear.
Visiting hours were held Thursday, January 15, 2009 from 5-7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A funeral service followed at 7pm Thursday in the funeral home. The burial will be in Great Hill Cemetery, Chester in the spring. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Julia Falciola, 3 Wilkele Road, Sandown, NH 03873.
