Manuel C. Fernandes, of Bridgewater, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, died at Caritas Norwood Hospital, Norwood, Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009. He was 61 years old. He came to the United States at the age of 26 and had been working for the Sharon Green Condominium complex in Sharon. He was the beloved son of the late Maria (Soares) and Antonio Fernandes of Santa Maria. He was the loving husband of Filomena B. (Carvalho) Fernandes of Bridgewater and the father of Carmen Corriveau and her husband Gary of Seekonk, and Christopher Fernandes and his wife Rebecca of Taunton. He was also a doting grandfather to Francesca Fernandes. He leaves to mourn eight siblings, Jose Fernandes of Hudson, Maria Jose Barros of Portugal, Eugenia Leal of CA and Maria Dutra, Maria Conceicao Resendes, Valentina Chaves, Antonio and Joao Fernandes all of Canada. He is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, other family and friends. Wake will be Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, from 4-8 p.m., at Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St.(Rt.18), Bridgewater. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 16, at St. Thomas Aquinas Center St., Bridgewater at 9 a.m., followed by interment at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
