
PAUL F. PEASLEE, SR., a Hingham resident for the past 55 years, and retired Captain of the Hingham Fire Department, died on Monday, Jan. 12th, 2009 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 76. Capt. Peaslee was born and raised in Hull. He attended Hull elementary schools and Hingham High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and with the Hingham Fire Dept. for 41 years, retiring in 1996.
Capt. Peaslee was a member and past president of the Mass. Fire Prevention Assoc., a charter member of the South Shore Fire Prevention Assoc., and a past president and member of the Board of Directors of the Hingham Federal Credit Union. In addition, he loved to travel, reading, the study of geneology and especially his cats.
He leaves his wife and best friend, Ellen (Woodworth) Peaslee of Hingham; and was the father of Paul F., Jr. and his wife Mary Ann of Hull, John L. and his wife Kimberly of Crossville, TN, Timothy M. and his wife Patricia of Weymouth, James C. and his wife Kimberly of Gray, ME and Janet (Peaslee) Brandt and her husband James of Natick. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral Saturday, Jan. 17th at 11 AM from the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul's Church, 147 North St., Hingham Square at 12 Noon. The interment is to be private.
Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Friday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Hingham Fire Dept. Local Union Scholarship Fund, 339 Main St., Hingham, MA 02043 or to the Hingham Federal Credit Union Scholarship Fund, 10 Downer Ave., Hingham, MA 02043.
