Obituary

Worcester—Robert Erickson, 84, beloved husband for 61 years of Lucy A. (Imperato) Erickson, died Sunday, January 11, 2009. He also leaves two sons, Robert J. Erickson and his wife, Noreen, and Kenneth D. Erickson and his former wife, Gina; a brother, Roger K. Erickson of NC; four sisters, Nancy Ritacco of Worcester, Helen Hayward of Millbury, Doris Danielson of FL, and Mildred Ricchiazzi of Barre; four grandchildren, Heather, Robert II, David, and Bryan; and many nieces & nephews and their families. He was predeceased by 5 brothers—Stanley, Henry, Warren, Harold, and Kenneth—and 4 sisters, Ruth Aubin, Virginia Abasciano, Dorothy Erickson, and Esther Semon.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late A. Eric and Hilma A. (Johanson) Erickson. He attended Worcester and Auburn schools and was a graduate of Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and served aboard the U.S.S. Saufley. He was a plank owner of that ship and enjoyed attending yearly reunions. Bob was a member and founder of St. Christopher Church as well as Our Lady of Fatima Church. He retired from Nels-Jamesbury Corp. in 1989 where he worked for 29 years. He was a former donor for the American Red Cross, having donated platelets over 175 times. He was a member of the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Apostolate.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. from 3-7 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 15. The funeral will be held from Nordgren Memorial Chapel with a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Christopher Church, 950 West Boylston S. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Funeral: Friday, Jan. 16, from Nordgren Memorial Chapel with a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Christopher's Church, 950 West Boylston Street, Worcester.
