WORCESTER__Monica T. “Mabel” (Yankus) Ustinovich, 82, of 140 Maywood St., died in her home on Sunday, January 11, 2009. Her husband, Andrew Ustinovich died in 1985.
She leaves two sons, Anthony L. Ustinovich of Worcester and Raymond J. Ustinovich of Florida; three daughters, Jeannie Marie Modig of Millbury; Cynthia Jarvis of Beverly and Ruth Simpson of East Brookfield; a brother, Vita Yankus of Shrewsbury; three sisters, Veronica MacKenzie of Holden; Mary O’Leary of Worcester and Julia Howard of Auburn; seventeen grandchildren including her granddaughter, Laura Modig and her children, Heather and James Cimochowski with whom she resided and twelve great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Andrew Ustinovich, Jr. and a brother Leo Yankus. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Anthony and Veronica (Stanilonis) Yankus and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Ustinovich was a stitcher at H. H. Brown Shoe Co. for several years before retiring. She was also a union steward there for many years. Mabel graduated from Commerce High School. She was a member of the Friendly Riders Motorcycle Club and the Circle “C” square dancers. She was a representative for Avon Cosmetics for over 40 years receiving many sales awards. She was a member of the former Grace Baptist Church in Worcester.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 15, with a service at 11:00 a.m. in DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home will be Wednesday, January 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
