Florence L. (Rogers) King, 83, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Roswell G. King, this March they would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Arthur L. and Ethel E. (Reed) Rogers, she was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. Mrs. King was an active member of the North Baptist Church, New Bedford. An avid Reader, she also enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Including her husband, she is survived by a son: Stephen A. King and his wife Nora of Fairhaven; a brother: Howard L. Rogers of Lincoln, RI; a sister: Edith I. Manchester of Tiverton, RI; 2 grandsons: Gregory A. King and Jeffrey S. King; 2 great grandchildren; an aunt: Althea Fish of New Bedford; a niece; a nephew; several cousins; and her beloved cat Susie Q.
