Francisco A. Aguiar, age 88 of Tiverton passed away January 11, 2009. Born in Fall River, he was husband of Alice (P. Furtado) Aguiar to whom he was married for 67 years and son of the late Jose & Maria (Pacheco) Alves Aguiar. He was a retired asphalt worker last for the State of RI. He was an accomplished soccer player, a WWII US Army veteran and a member of Holy Ghost Church.
Besides his wife of Tiverton, he is survived by: 2 children: Robert R. Aguiar of Exeter & Deborah Marie Brodeur of Bristol, RI; 1 brother: John “Jeff” Aguiar of Fall River; 2 granddaughters: Mikhela & Hillary & several nieces and nephews. Brother of the late Antonio “Blackie” Aguiar, Manuel Alves, Laura & Mary Couto, Minnie Moniz & Rose Correia.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Saturday at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Ghost Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-8 P.M.
