Helen J. (Boyson) Ash, a resident of Medford for over 70 years, died on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at Brighten at Medford Nursing Home in Medford following an extended illness. She was 83 years old.
Helen was born in Beverly on June 27, 1925. She grew up in Medford where she attended Medford Public Schools. Helen worked for over 30 years as an assembler for General Electric in their Lynn and Malden plants. She retired in 1999. She loved to collect hummels, travel to Rockport and Cape Cod to be near the ocean, bingo and doing her crossword puzzles.
Helen is the devoted mother of Kathleen Lee and her husband Larry of Chatham and S. Michael Ash and his wife Kelly of Melrose. She is the loving grandmother of Alison, Katherine, Jonathan and David Lee, Michael and Cory Ash and her 2 great-grandaughters; Madeline and Emma. She is the sister of the late Cecelia Louise Desmond, Patricia Spinosa, John "Bunky" Boyson, Francis "Bud" Boyson and Samuel "Dick" Boyson. She is also the dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Helen's Funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose, followed by her Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main Street, Wakefield, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Tuesday, January 13, 2009, from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
