Obituary

WORCESTER: Arthur L. Nelson, 74, of 1 Westminster St., formerly of Portsmouth, RI, died Saturday, January 10, 2009, at St. Vincent Hospital, after a short illness.
He leaves his wife of 8 years, Jo Ann (Harvey) Joslyn Nelson; a daughter, Sheree Harrington and her husband Barry of Webster; a son Michael Nelson of Portsmouth; a step-daughter, Deanna L. Joslyn of Worcester; a step-son, Shawn P. Joslyn and his long time companion Shannon M. Bernier of Worcester; and his treasured granddaughter, Meghan Hope Joslyn of Worcester. He also leaves his brother-in-law, Joseph R. Harvey and his wife Deborah of Chesapeake, VA; 2 cousins, Stanley Richardson and his wife Barbara, and Cliff Erickson and his wife Dottie, all of Rockland. He was born in Boston, son of the late Arthur and Lillian (Ford) Nelson. He was a Navy Veteran of both the Korean War and Vietnam War, and a long time member of St. Augustine and St. Martin Church in Boston.
Arthur was an automobile mechanic and owner of Art’s Foreign Car Service in Portsmouth for 27 years, until he retired. He enjoyed watching sports and movies on television and spending time with his family.
There are no calling hours. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family suggests donations in memory of Arthur be made to the Massachusetts Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
