Obituary

Edward M. Tobin, 79, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, January 7. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Moreau) Tobin. Born in Boston, he was a graduate of Dorchester Schools. Following his graduation, he entered the United States Marine Corps, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Following his Honorable Discharge, he enrolled in the Petersen School for Engineering and earned his engineering license. Mr. Tobin worked as the Assistant Plant Manager for the Norwood Hospital in Norwood for many years, retiring in 1985. He also worked as the Assistant Chief Engineer at the Cedar Junction Prison in Walpole for several years, retiring many years ago. He was a member of the Cedar Hill Golf Club and the Knights of Columbus both in Stoughton and the Amvets in Millis. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by his children: Patricia A. Mitchell and her husband Kenneth of RI and Edward M. Tobin of FL. He was the brother of John R. Tobin of Stoughton and the late Eleanor Latimer. He was the brother in law of Joan Moreau of Stoughton and is also survived by his grandson Brendan Mitchell.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, January 12 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 3-6 PM. Donations in Ed’s name may be made to American Heart Assn., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Massachusetts Amvets, State House, Room 546-3, Boston, 02133-1048. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.
