Funeral services for Mrs. Juanita Hancock Alberson, 85, will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2009 in the First Baptist Church of Ashburn. Mrs. Alberson passed away Wednesday in Waycross following an extended illness. Interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery in Turner Co.
Mrs. Alberson was born in Turner Co, the daughter of the late Samuel Y. and Maggie Pate Hancock. She was a member of the Ashburn First Baptist Church, The Fidelis Sunday School Class and enjoyed the Keenagers and Primetimers groups. She grew up in Turner Co. and lived in Jacksonville, FL for several years. Mrs. Alberson then moved to Sycamore in 1989 following her retirement from the Federal Civil Service.
Mrs. Alberson was the widow of Jud Alberson. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Shayna Marie Simmons, brothers Reason P. Hancock, Warren S. Hancock and Raymond R. Hancock and a sister Christine M. Fisher.
Mrs. Alberson is survived by her daughters, Wanda (Pete) A. Sellars of St. Marys, GA. and Sandra A. Parker of Sycamore, GA. Her grandchildren, Melissa (Jay) Connell Jordan, Jeffery S. Simmons, Tara (Phil) S. Ball and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 till 7:00 at Perry Funeral Chapel.
