DRACUT - Mary (Lazous) Spanos, 87, a long time Dracut resident, died unexpectedly Monday January 5, 2008 in Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late James C. Spanos who predeceased her in 1998.
Born in Manchester, NH on June 14, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Cleoniki (Tsianou) Lazous. She received her education in the Manchester school system and was a graduate of Manchester High School class of 1939.
Mrs. Spanos had been employed as an Executive Secretary for 28 years at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA retiring in 1999.
She was a member of Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell and was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos at the church.
Mrs. Spanos enjoyed spending summers at her family home on Hampton Beach surrounded by family and friends.
Surviving her are her daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Gary Allison of Nashua, NH; her two sons and daughter-in-law Christopher J. and Michelle Spanos of Lowell and James C. Spanos Jr of Dracut and with whom she resided; three grandchildren Sarah Allison and Brandon and Samantha Spanos; two sisters Effie Stylianos of Nashua, NH and Sophie Chakos of Long Island, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM. Her Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday at 9 AM followed by her Funeral Service at 10 AM in Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Lowell. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery, Lowell.
