Lorraine I. (Campbell) O’Neill, 76, died Tuesday, January 6, at the Milton Hospital in Milton, after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Gerald A. O’Neill. Born in Billerica, she was raised and educated in Somerville and a graduate of Somerville High School. A longtime resident of Dorchester, she moved to Stoughton over 20 years ago. Mrs. O’Neill worked as a bank teller at the First National Bank in Boston for several years. She was also a homemaker. After raising her family, she returned to the University of Massachusetts in Boston and graduated at age 63. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton, and a former parishioner of St. Mark’s Church in Dorchester. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children: Daniel J. O’Neill and his wife Mary of Stoughton, Mary E. Mosman and her husband Robert of Charlton, Nancy E. Gillespie and her boyfriend Richard Conroy of Stoughton, Christopher J. O’Neill and his fiancé Diane Post of Ashland and Richard J. O’Neill and his wife Jeanne of Stoughton. She was the sister of Shirley E. MacMillian of FL and Sally A. Harrington of NH. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her two sons Kevin M. and James R. O’Neill, and her siblings: Francis E. Campbell, Dorothy M. Goguen, Ellen Annani, Mildred V. Gronbach, Patricia H. Poulin and Daniel J. Campbell. She was the sister in law of Barbara Campbell. She was the grandmother of Daniel, Patrick, Thomas, Michael, Ryan and Julianna O’Neill and James Gillespie. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 5-8 PM. Donations in Lorraine’s memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
