SALEM- John W. MacDonald, 53, husband of Carole A. (Nickson) MacDonald, of Salem, died Monday afternoon, May 12, 2003 at the V. A. Medical Center, Boston, following a brief illness.
Born in Beverly, he was the son of Norma L. (Schaffner) MacDonald of Beverly and the late Malcolm J. MacDonald.
Mr MacDonald was employed as a machinist for many years.
A Vietnam Era veteran, he served in the U. S. Army.
He graduated from Beverly High School in 1968, attended Wentworth Institute and received an Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from North Shore Community College.
Besides his wife, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage, and his mother, he is survived by one brother, Kevin T. MacDonald of Beverly, his mother-in-law, Marian Nickson of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, a sister-in-law, Meredith and her husband John Gustafson, of West Palm Beach, Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral service will be held Friday, May 16, 2003 at 11 AM in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours are Thursday, 4 to 8 PM. Burial is in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
