Albert R. Florio 84 of Franklin, died Friday January 2, 2009 at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Hazel R. (Hurd) Florio, who died in 1990.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island February 25, 1924 a son of the Adolfo and Carmela (D’Arezzo) Florio he lived in Franklin for most of his life.
He was educated in Franklin schools, and retired from the former Penn Central Railroad where he worked as a truck driver for more than 30 years.
A quiet and unassuming man, he will be remembered as a hard worker, who enjoyed camping, taking Sunday rides with his family and working on cars.
He is survived by three sons, Albert A. and Anthony P. Florio both of Franklin, David M. Florio of Cumberland and five grandchildren, Beverly Hadri, David Florio, April Mendell, Michael & Jennifer Florio, and 4 great grandchildren Jacquelyn & Cassandra Florio, Marianna and Paul Martin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Wednesday January 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. (www.franklinfuneral.com).
Burial will follow in the family lot in Union Street Cemetery.
