Vera Frances Childs Wetherington, 83, of Tifton died Sunday, January 4, 2009, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Glenn Ford will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Allen Fleming, Charles Fleming, Chad Tracy, Will Wetherington, Tim Graham and Dwight Medders will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 5, 2009, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Wetherington was born on December 21, 1925 and was the daughter of Charles Childs, Sr. and Kate Cox Childs, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William L. "Bill" Wetherington; and one brother, Charles Childs, Jr.. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wetherington is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bill Wetherington, Jr. and his wife, Marcia, of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Polly Wetherington Fleming and her husband, Charles Fleming, Jr., of Crawford; one brother, Gerald Childs; and three grandchildren and their spouses and children, Katy Fleming Tracy and her husband, Chad and their son, Clint; Will Wetherington, III and his wife, Jodi, and Allen Fleming and his wife, Jan, and their daughter, Brooke.
