Billie Jo Johns, 59, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenny Griffin, Jr. & Rev. Earlie Holt officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Wilcox County. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Johns was born October 25, 1949 in Americus, Georgia to the late J.C. & Nadine Jackson Howard. She had lived in the community for the past 36 years coming from Cordele. She was a former newspaper carrier for the Cordele Dispatch and worked for Fitzgerald Underwear and Y & W Sportswear as a seamstress. She was a member of the Potter’s Touch Worship Center.
Mrs. Johns is survived by her husband: Willie V. Johns of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: David Earl & Donna Jean Clark of Ocilla, Elizabeth & Jason Scarborough of Fitzgerald; Willie Joe & Patsy Johns of Douglas, Patricia & James Edward Lunsford and Kathy & Jamie Lynn Sawyer, all of Fitzgerald; 23 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister: Patricia Howard of Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
