Lois T. Wellington, 78

Lois T. (Wight) Wellington, 78, of Port Charlotte, Florida and North Falmouth formerly of Mansfield died unexpectedly on Saturday January 3, 2009 at the Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte. She was the beloved wife of John P. Wellington, Sr.
Born in Newton, MA on June 23, 1930 she was a dear daughter of the late Ralph C. Wight, Sr. and Edith (Torrey) Wight.
Lois grew up in Newton, was educated in Newton public schools and was a 1948 graduate of Newton High School. She furthered her studies at the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston, graduating in 1950.
A dedicated homemaker to her loving family, Mrs. Wellington had made her home in North Falmouth in the summers and wintered in Port Charlotte for the past 20 years after moving from the town of Mansfield where she had resided for many years.
While living in Mansfield Lois had attended the Orthodox Congregational Church. Her hobbies included knitting, rug hooking and ceramic crafts. She especially enjoyed playing bingo with her friends in North Falmouth and Port Charlotte and the wonderful times spent with her loving family.
In addition to her beloved husband John she is survived by her devoted children Charlotte A. Wellington of Attleboro, Dana R. Wellington and his wife Kathy of Russell, Penn., Nancy J. Ghiloni and her husband Fred of Attleboro, John P. Wellington, Jr. and his wife Julie of Providence, R.I., Judy R. Wellington of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gary C. Wellington of Attleboro and David S. Wellington of Pawtucket, R.I. She was the sister of Barbara L. Wight of Arizona and the late Julia A. Wight and Ralph C. Wight, Jr. Also surviving are her cherished grandsons Alex M. Wellington, Andrew G. Wellington and Daniel L. Rickett-Wellington as well as 1 niece and 1 nephew.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday January 9th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main Street Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 P.M.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday January 8th from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
