WORCESTER-Bernice L. (Blood) Kennen, 84, formerly of 35 Montague Street died Sunday, May 11th in Notre Dame Long Term Care Center where she resided for the past 5 years. Her husband of 60 years, Carl J. Kennen died in 2001. She leaves 2 daughters, Janet Evans of Harwich, MA and Judith Apple of Nevada City, CA.
She was born in Franklin, NH the daughter of Ralph and Helen (Thompson) Blood and lived in Worcester for many years. She graduated from Commerce High School. Mrs. Kennen worked at the courtesy booth at the Wonder Market Company retiring in 1981. Previously, she worked as a secretary for State Mutual Life Assurance Company and Leicester Junior College. She was a member of Bethany United Christian Church and its women’s fellowship. She was chairperson of the Circle-ettes and served on many other church committees.
A graveside service will be Wednesday, May 14th at 11:00 AM in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center Activities Fund, 559 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue is directing arrangements.
