Obituary

Mary E. (Santos) Young, 89, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Wednesday, December 31, at the Copley at Stoughton Nursing Home in Stoughton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Norman E. Young. Born in Somerville, she was raised in both Somerville and on the island of Madeira in the Azores, Portugal. She was a graduate of Somerville Schools. Mrs. Young was a homemaker. She was a longtime volunteer at the New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton. Mrs. Young was a member of the Portuguese National Club and the VFW Auxiliary both in Stoughton. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting.
Mrs. Young is survived by her three daughters; Nancy A. Puljanowski and Mary Ann Young both of Stoughton and Norma J. Paiva and her husband Frank of Halifax. She was the grandmother of David and Jillian Puljanowski and Frankie, Ryan and Kevin Paiva. She was the sister of the late Christopher Santos. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton St., Stoughton on Friday, January 2, at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton prior to the Mass from 8:45-9:45 AM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton. Donations in Mary’s name may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
