Obituary

Carl Arthur Erickson - 85, of Bass River formerly of Wellesley and Nantucket, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Cape Cod Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Alice (Wells) Erickson. He also is survived by a son, Kurt Erickson of Altoona, WI, and a daughter, Karla Erickson of Bolton; and his grandchildren, Kjersten and Kristian Erickson and Jared and Linnea Turner. Surviving siblings are Karin Gilley and her husband, Winslow, of Ashland, Lillian Leupold and her husband, Mathias, of Wayland, Roy Erickson and his wife, Dorothy, of Westford and Ellen Enemark and her husband, Robert, of Duxbury and Ft. Myers, FL. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Donald Erickson.

During WWII, after serving in the Merchant Marine, he served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation machinist’s mate in a Carrier Aircraft Service Unit (CASU) on Tarawa. Born in Wellesley, he was a son of the late Carl and Karin Erickson. He grew up in Wellesley and graduated from Wellesley High School in 1940. In 1953, he married Alice Wells, also of Wellesley. They lived on Nantucket until moving to Bass River in 1995.

Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St., (Rt.16) WELLESLEY, Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, from 2-4 PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment private.
