Frederic Farnham, 75 of Westport, MA, died December 25, 2008, at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Florence (Standley) Farnham for 47 years.
Mr. Farnham was born in Dover, MA and raised in Newton, MA. He attended Middlebury College and graduated from Clark University. He was an accomplished boat builder and was Alan Vaitses first employee at Vaitses Boat Yard in Mattapoisett, MA. After many years building fine wooden boats, he changed careers and became a wood shop teacher at Hastings Middle School where he worked for 32 years.
He was an avid boater, reader, and carver of wooden boat models. He also enjoyed classical music and spending time with family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Farnham is survived by his son, Scott Farnham of Mattapoisett; his daughter, Stephanie Novacek, her husband Robert, and granddaughter Mallory, all of Lunenburg, MA; his brother Henry Farnham and wife Gretchen of West Barnstable, MA.
Mr. Farnham was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and Betty Farnham of Osterville, MA.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday January 3, 2009 at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd, Mattapoisett, MA at 12:30 PM.
