Genevieve M. (Monteiro) Viegas, 77, of Hudson, died peacefully at home Sunday, December 28. She leaves her loving husband of 52 years, Angelo Viegas of Hudson.
She was born in Somerville, daughter of the late Joseph P. and Mary P. (Perry) Monteiro and moved to Hudson where she resided most of her life. Mrs. Viegas was employed by the Entwistle Co. of Hudson as a secretary for 30 years until her retirement. She was a member of the former Christ the King Parish in Hudson and was presently a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson. She was a former member and president of the Christ the King Sodality, member of the Hudson Historical Society and Hudson Portuguese Club. She enjoyed traveling and gardening.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert Viegas and his wife Shiela (Casavecchia) and John Viegas both of Hudson; her daughter, Theresa Viegas of Hudson; two brothers, Albert Monteiro of Florida and Joseph Monteiro of Marlboro. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Jason and Brittany Viegas and her great grandson Gavin Condon.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 9:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central St. Hudson, MA 01749.
