John F. Fiumefreddo, a retired elder caregiver, died Thursday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 79.
Mr. Fiumefreddo was born and raised in the South End and Dorchester the son of the late Salvatore and the late Santa (Trapani) Fiumefreddo. He worked for many years with Mystic Valley Elder Services as a case worker. A Medford resident for over 50 years, John was a man who lived for his family and enjoyed cooking big meals for his family and friends.
The beloved husband of Mary (Troiani), he was a devoted father to Sandra Fiumefreddo of Malden, Donna Frye of Medford and John S. Fiumefreddo of Malden. He was a loving grandfather to Mary Frye, Elisabeth Frye, Nicholas Fiumefreddo, Marissa Fiumefreddo and a loving great-grandfather to Miguel Sousa. He was a special uncle of Marie Durante, Sandy Sanfilippo and Joseph D’Agostino. John is also survived by many other dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St. Medford, Tuesday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church, 512 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
