Obituary

Mary T. (Strano) Fidler, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died on Tuesday December 23, 2008 at her home in Charlestown following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 68 years old.

Mary was born in Boston and grew up in Charlestown where she attended Boston Public Schools and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1958. She worked as a bookeeper for several years at New England Telephone Company. She then became a waitress at The Club House Cafe in Chelsea and worker there for several years.

Mary is the devoted mother of William J. Keating of Charlestown, Maureen Keating of Winthrop and Michael P. Fidler of Charlestown. She is the loving grandmother of Rachel Farley and Molly Fidler. She is the beloved daughter of Emanuel Strano of Charlestown and the late Rose (Gilgun) Strano. She is the beloved sister of Frances Fitzgerald and her husband James of Charlestown, Joseph Strano and his wife Joanne of Everett, Rose Howell of Charlestown, Theresa Boston and her husband Steve of California, the late Anthony and Manny Strano.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday morning December 27, 2008 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make memorial donations in Mary's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1942.
