Leone Torlai, age 83, of Stoneham formerly of Medford and Somerville, died December 23rd, at the Aberjona Nursing Center in Winchester following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Liberata (Bonugli) Torlai with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Italy he was the son of the late Cristina (Fontana) and Giuseppe Torlai.
Leone was a retired form maker and worked for over forty years for the Cambridge Cement and Stone Co. and was also member of the Laborers Union Local 22. Mostly devoted to his loving family and many friends, Leone was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was passionate about hunting rabbit and breading beagles and was a member of the Newbury Beagle Club. Leone was also a member of the Appian Club in Stoneham and for many years was a member of the Dante Club in Somerville.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted daughter Anna Dallai and her husband Riccardo of Winchester. He is also survived by his loving and cherished grandson, Riccardo Dallai Jr, of Winchester and is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters, Antonia Iacopucci, Giuseppina Santini, Feruccia Santini and Lidia Iacopucci.
His funeral will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Monday, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 3 thru 7. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Leone's memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline, MA 02445-9924 or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101 First St., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02154.
Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
