Obituary

ALBRITTON, JERAL "GENE," 76, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2008, surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a retired electrician for Conco Corp., a member of IBEW Local 369, a member of Knights of Columbus-Newman Council 4665, St. Vincent DePaul Society and Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Gene was also a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church (formerly Our Lady of Consolation), and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He will be remembered as a great and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was an avid golfer, bowler, UK fan and was active in his church. He enjoyed the great outdoors where he loved to farm and garden, and was an excellent handy-man who always helped other people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Gracie Albritton; and his brothers, D. C. and Talmage Albritton.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Bettye Jean Albritton (Downs); five sons, Jerry (Debbie), Gary (Sandy), Michael (Brenda), David (Jackie) and Kevin Albritton; two daughters, Nancy Terry and Gina Milburn (Chad); 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and his sister, Shirley Hazelwood (Don).
His funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 10801 Deering Road with burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
