Obituary

Margaret L. “Peggy” (Leonard) Walmer 76 years of Brockton died Monday December 22, 2008 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness. She was the loving wife for 53 years of Albert A. Walmer. Born and raised in Dorchester a daughter of the late Eugene and Marie (Scanlan) Leonard, Peggy had been a resident of Brockton since 1970.

Peggy was a 1952 graduate of Boston City Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse in various hospitals on the east coast while her husband served in the US Navy. She will be fondly remembered as an information and referral specialist for the Brockton Area Helpline for 20 years, retiring in 1996. She loved to read and spend time with her grandbabies and grand pets and enjoyed knitting Christmas stockings for all her family. She had been a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Peggy was the beloved mother of Jeanne Marie Draughon and her husband Barry of Broken Arrow, OK and Theresa Ronan of Brockton. She is survived by her grandchildren Kevin and Jessica Ronan and Ian Draughon and a nephew Edward Comeau of Oradell, NJ. She was the sister of the late Frances Comeau and aunt of the late Stephen Comeau.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery West Roxbury. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm. Donations in Peggy’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
