Obituary

WORCESTER____John P. Kucharski, 84, of 104 Granite St., died Tuesday May 6, in his home.

He leaves his wife of 56 years, Ruth M. (Zmayefski) Kucharski; three daughters, Maryann Gagne of Auburn; Sandra A. Kucharski of Worcester; and Susan Kucharski of Chester, Massachusetts; a granddaughter, Michele Gagne of Boston; a grandson, Joseph G. Gagne of Worcester, nephews and nieces. Four brothers, Stanley, Joseph and Albin Kucharski all of Worcester and Walter Kucharski of Plymouth died before him. He was born in Worcester son of Wladyslaw and Mary (Cackowski) Kucharski and lived here all his life.

Mr. Kucharski was a postal clerk 20 years for the United States Postal Service and retired in 1980. Before then he was a lathe operator 25 years for Crompton & Knowles Co.

He was a Army veteran of World War II serving as a Staff Sergeant with the Army Signal Corps in England, Rhineland and Central Europe.

Mr. Kucharski was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church and was a life member of Polish American Veterans of World War II. He was an accomplished bowler and in 1955 won the 19th Annual Worcester Telegram & Gazette Central Mass Bowling Championship. He was graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School.

The funeral will be held on Thursday May 8 from Henry - Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday May 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. Members of Polish American Veterans of World War II will conduct their ritual at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday May 7 during calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Memorial Fund, 34 Ward St., Worcester, Ma., 01610.
