Obituary

William D. O’Brien, 84 of Medway died December 21 in his home. He was the husband of Irene C. (Wilde) O’Brien.
Born in Fall River, March 3, 1924, the son of the late William P. and Margaret (Britland) O’Brien, Mr. O’Brien was raised in Uxbridge and had lived in Bellingham and Hopedale prior to moving to Medway 48 years ago.
Mr. O’Brien had been a laborer at the GAF plant for over 30 years before retiring.
He was a member of Teamster’s Local 25.
Mr. O’Brien served in the Army during World War II, attaing the rank of private first class.
He also served for a time in the Navy Seabees before entering the Army.
He was the past Commander of the Uxbridge VFW and was a member of the Medway VFW Post 1526.
Mr. O’Brien loved animals of all kinds.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, David W. O’Brien and his wife, Marsha of Northborough, Michael E. O’Brien and his wife, Sylvia of Orange, Vermont, Kathleen M. Hodson of N. Attleboro, Barbara L. Jones and her husband, Ken of Walpole and Patricia Hawkins and her wife, Marianne of Moosup, Ct.
He was the brother of the late Margaret Pierce, Eileen Dubois and Christine Gervais.
He was also the grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 7 and uncle of Nancy Chicione of Deltona, Florida.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, December 27 from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber Street in Medway at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
