Charles D. McGinley Sr.

...Korean war Army vet; Lincoln Labs; 74

TEWKSBURY - Charles D. McGinley Sr., age 74, a research and development technician, diedMonday evening, May 5, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell. He was the husband ofMiriam M. (Moakley) McGinley, with whom he would have celebrated a 50th weddinganniversary on August 1.

He was born in Boston, Feb. 22, 1929, a son of the late Peter and Margaret (Sheehey) McGinley. He lived in Wilmington and Tewksbury the greater part of his life, and retired to Falmouth onCape Cod in 1993. He lived on Cape Cod for 10 years, and returned to Tewksbury this year.

He retired from the Research and Development Office at Lincoln Labs in Lexington.

Mr. McGinley was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. McGinley was a devout catholic layman, and was a member of St. William’s Church inTewksbury, where he was a member of the St. William’s Men’s Club, president of the Holy NameSociety for 7 years, a C.C.D. teacher, and an early volunteer and 7 year volunteer for the “FoodShare” program. He was a member of the Fr. Coppen’s Council, Knights of Columbus inTewksbury. He was also a member of St. Anthony’s Church when he resided in Falmouth.

In his earlier years, he was an active bowler.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas J. McGinley ofWinchester, Charles D. Jr. and his wife Cori McGinley of Tewksbury; four daughters and threesons-in-law, Margaret M. “Peggy” and her husband Dana Speranza of Wilmington, Mary E. andher husband William Doherty of Nashua, NH, Ann M. and her husband Brian Kolek of Westford,Barbara McGinley of Dallas, TX, 15 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, and several nieces andnephews including Marie McGinley and Patricia Daigle of East Bridgewater, John McGinley ofMansfield, and James McGinley of N.H.

He was also brother of the late John, Peter and Thomas McGinley.

His Funeral Mass was held Friday, May 9, in St. William’s Church. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, No.Tewksbury.
