Jimmy “Noodle” Newell, 54, of Irwinville, Georgia, died Saturday, December 20, 2008, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Monday, December 22, 2008, at Arbor Baptist Church with the Rev. Rex Johnson, Elder Charles Tyson, and the Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Newell was born August 26, 1954 to the late Murray Preston and Wynell Pitts Newell. He attended Tift County High School and worked for 23 years as a supervisor for the former Shaw Industries. He was currently employed as a field supervisor for Irwinville Peanut & Grain. Mr. Newell also worked for Gold Kist in Tifton and was a former fire fighter and first responder in Irwinville.
He is survived by his wife: Rita McGee Newell of Irwinville; daughter and son-in-law: Mandy & Shane Handley of Irwinville; son and daughter-in-law: Wesley & Amanda Newell of Irwinville; grandchildren: Jordan and Halleigh Gilbert and Allie, Gavin, and Marley Newell, all of Irwinville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Charles & Toni Newell and Bobby & Janice Newell, all of Tifton; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Margie & Russell Garren and Wanda & Mark Draughon, all of Tifton.
