Richard H. , 82, formerly of Eldred Court in Wakefield RI, an Accountant for the Federal Government for 28 years before retiring, died Monday, December 15, at Cortland Place, Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Marion L. (Thomas) Jenkins.
Born in Lynn MA, a son of the late John and Lilla (Cooper) Jenkins and was warmly known as “Dick”. Mr. Jenkins was a Navy veteran of WWII and served on the USS Ocelot and USS PC 466 in the Pacific. He volunteered his time coaching Little League baseball, and was an avid sports fan and devoted follower of the Boston Red Sox.
He is survived by his children, David Jenkins of Greenville, RI, Steven Jenkins of Reading MA, Cathy Belisle of Melbourne FL, Harry Jenkins of Greenville, RI and Wil Kilroy of Gorham ME; twelve grandchildren, Alex, Brooke, Jordan, Kyle, Keith, Brian, Michael, Michelle, Matt, Colene, Kelly and Bryon; three great grandchildren Brogen, Kyle and Ryan, and a brother John “Eddie” Jenkins of Kissimee FL. He was the father of the late Barry Jenkins, and the sibling of the late Earl Jenkins
Private funeral service will be held January 17, 2009. Burial with Military Honors will be in the RI Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to American Diabetes Assn., 209 Cottage Street, Pawtucket RI 02860.
