TEWKSBURY: Thomas Domenic DeLuca, age 74, a Tewksbury resident for 36 years, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2008 at Saints Medical Center in Lowell.
He was the devoted husband of Ada (Alberico) DeLuca, with whom he celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on June 22nd.
Born in Boston on May 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Ralph and Phyllis (Demetrio) DeLuca.
Mr. DeLuca was raised in Watertown, attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and the Boston Trade School.
In 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War aboard the USS Ellyson. He was awarded several decorations for his military service including the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal.
He resided in Watertown until moving to Tewksbury in 1972.
Mr. DeLuca was a communicant of Saint William’s Parish of Tewksbury.
Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed as a supervisor by the B.F. Goodrich Tire Company, where he worked for 27 years.
Mr. DeLuca was a frequent visitor to the Tewksbury Senior Drop-In-Center and a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club.
He enjoyed completing puzzles and the numerous trips taken with the Tewksbury Golden Age Club.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived three daughters, Phyllis Gill and her husband Paul, Angela DeLuca Joyce and her husband Lance and Maria Rappold all of Tewksbury; five grandchildren, Matthew Gill, Steffanie and Sarah DeLuca-Gifford (and their father Russell Gifford), True and Jonah Rappold (and their father Bryan Rappold); three brothers, Ralph DeLuca and his wife Doreen of Winchester, Michael DeLuca and his wife Licia of Tewksbury and John DeLuca and his partner Gene Pesce of Orlando, FL; one sister, Rose DeLuca and her husband Steve Cotter of North Andover; also many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Anthony DeLuca.
Calling hours Thursday, Dec. 11th, from 3-7 p.m.,(G.A.C. Service at 3:30 p.m.) at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Friday at 9 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Greater Lowell VNA Hospice, P.O. Box 1965, Lowell, MA 01852 are requested.
