Maria E.(Albernaz) Arruda, age 78, a Fall River resident of 31 years. Passed away in New Bedford, December 8, 2008. She was the wife of Jose Arruda. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, daughter of the late Luis and Maria (Valentine) Albernaz. She was a member of St. Michael Church. Before retiring, she was a Sewing Machine Operator at Ideal Bias.
Besides her husband of Fall River, she is survived by 5 Children: Olga Camara of Fall River, Maria Carvalho of Canada, Jose L., John, and Manuel Arruda all of Fall River; 3 Sisters all of Canada: Aldina Farias, Flisbina Matos, & Lubelia Arruda; 10 Grandchildren and Many nieces & nephews. She was also sister of the late Ilda Reis.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Thursday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 P.M.
