Mary C. (Sheehan) Young, 83, of South Dartmouth died Wednesday April 30, 2003 at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabiliation Center in Fairhaven after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late R. Charles Young.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Catherine (McCauley) Sheehan, she had lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to South Dartmouth. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Mrs. Young was formerly employed as a pharmacy technician at Phoenix Pharmacy in Fairhaven until her retirement.
Survivors include a son, Charles R. Young of Natick; a daughter, Marilyn A. Horan of South Dartmouth; a brother, Paul Sheehan of Hollywood, Florida; 3 sisters, Alice Stephens of Lake Placid, Florida, Theresa Deluga of South Yarmouth and Elizabeth Montigny of New Bedford; 11 grandchildren, Sean Young and Christopher Young , both of Acushnet, Charles Young, Jr. of Marion, Michael Young of Milton, Andrew Young and Joseph Young, both of Natick, Lisa Horan Howe of Newton, Kathleen McLean and Peter Horan, both of South Dartmouth, Patricia Horan of Needham, and Timothy Horan of New Bedford; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.She was the grandmother of the late John C. Horan, and sister of the late Helen Sheehan.
Her Funeral will be held from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordSaturday May 3, 2003 at 8:30 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth at 9:30 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Friday May 2, 2003 from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Beacon Hospice, 45 North Main St., Fall River, MA 02720.
