Obituary

Flavia Bari, 61, passed away at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on December 5th, 2008. She was born in Anzano DiPuglia, Italy on December 26th, 1946 to her parents Domenico and Giuseppina (Aucielo) Ascolillo. Flavia immigrated to the United States at the age of nine, settling in the North End of Boston. She has been a resident of Malden for the past 38 years. Flavia was a Schoolteacher for the City of Malden for over 34 years. She taught students at the Belmont, Lincoln and Beebe Schools in Malden. Flavia is a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Charismatic Prayer Group. She had a special devotion to the Divine Mercy. She also volunteered her time at the Glen Ridge Nursing Home in Medford. She is survived by her husband, Sebastiano J. “Jim” Bari; by her children, Maria G. Bari of Malden and Carmelo D. Bari of Medford; by her brother, Vito Ascolillo and his wife Carmela of Boston; by her mother-in-law, Maria Bari of Medford; and by her brothers-in-law, Joseph Bari and his wife Kathy of Brockton and Philip Bari Sr. of Florida. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many cousins. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday December 9th at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 12 Noon. Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home prior to the Mass on Tuesday only. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, 241 Neponset Ave., Dorchester, MA 02122.
