Obituary

NEW BEDFORD - Natalie B. (Smith) Arnett, 76, of New Bedford, passed away on November 30, 2008. She was the loving wife of John W. Arnett.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Alexander Smith and Nora (Davis) Smith, she lived in New Bedford her entire life. She was a graduate of Holy Family High School and also of Kenyon Secretarial School.
She was employed by Almy and Co. Insurance, Charles S. Ashley and Sons Insurance and Bosworth Insurance Agency. Retiring in 2003, she obtained licenses as an Insurance Broker and a Real Estate Broker. and was active for many years in the antique business.
She was a former member of the Old Dartmouth Historic Society and WHALE. She was involved in local theater with Spouters, Your Theater, New Bedford High and the University of MA. Dartmouth
She was Co-Chairman of Save Fort Rodman Committee, overlooking problems at the secondary water waste treatment plant. She was a founding member of the Republican Club of Southeastern Massachusetts.
She enjoyed many interests, including traveling, knitting, gardening, doing the New York Times crossword puzzle in ink, as well as dogs, especially Ben.
Survivors include her husband, John, and six siblings, Martha Sullivan, Alice Larson, Shirley Smith, All of Dartmouth, Margaret O'Neil and Barbara Brennan of New Bedford , and Alexander Smith of Rockport and many nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Catherine J. Griffin, Eleanora S. Fontaine, Mary T., Teresa M., Winifred and Peter Smith.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2008, fron 5-7 P.M. at the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford. Her service will be at 9 A.M. Friday from the funeral home, followed by a Mass at 10 A.M. at St. Lawrence Church and burial in Rural Cemetery
