Grace M. (Grasso) Pizzurro, a longtime resident of Charlestown, died unexpectedly on Monday December 1, 2008 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 69 years old.
Grace was born in Boston on April 30, 1939. She grew up in the West End section of Boston and attended Boston Public Schools. She worked for the City of Boston as a meter maid during the late 1970's and early 1980's. Grace was very active and attentive to the senior citizens of Charlestown while participating at The Golden Age Center and many other activities involving the elderly of Charlestown.
Grace is the beloved wife of 53 years to William A. Pizzurro. She is the devoted mother of Christine Pizzurro of Charlestown and Sandra Pizzurro-Wishansky and her husband Gary of Charlestown. She is the loving sister of Marcia Gatta of Charlestown, Christine Johnson of Charlestown and the late Dominic, Joseph and Anthony Grasso. She is the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Mary J. Grasso. She is also survived by her dog Austin and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours for Grace on Friday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 a.m. Cremation will take place following her Funeral Mass.
