Edward Amaral, age 85, of Swansea. Passed away Sunday Nov. 30, 2008. Husband of Ellen (Pereira) Amaral. Born in Fall River, son of the late Antone & Maria (Borges) Amaral. Prior to retiring, Mr. Amaral worked as a Custodian at the Luther School in Swansea, and was also a Swansea Reserve Police Officer. He was a parishioner of St. John of God Church & a member of its Holy Ghost Society. Ed was also the recipient of the Marian Medal in 2000. He was a member of the Swansea Policemen’s Association, South Somerset Progressive Club, & the Knights of Columbus Council 3669 - Bishop James E. Cassidy.
Besides his wife of Swansea, he is survived by 2 children: Mary Fran Barboza & her husband Vic of Swansea and Mike Amaral & his wife Joni of California. Granddaughter: Vicki (Barboza) Migneault. 2 Great grandchildren Riley & Colin Migneault all of Maine & several nieces & nephews. He was the brother of the late Antone, Louis, James, Joseph, William Amaral, Alice Tavares, & Irene Pereira.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Thursday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church, Brayton Ave. Somerset at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Swansea.
